Collection: Mod Revival
Mod Revival emerged in the late 1970s as a resurgence of the 1960s mod subculture, blending elements of punk, power pop, and R&B. This genre is characterized by its sharp, energetic sound and stylish aesthetic, often featuring crisp guitar riffs, driving rhythms, and passionate vocals. Within the Mod Revival movement, two distinct sub-genres developed: the Medway Sound, which originated in Kent, England, and showcased a raw, garage rock-influenced style with a strong emphasis on organ sounds; and Skinhead Oi, a more aggressive offshoot that combined the mod ethos with the working-class anthems and street-level politics of Oi! punk. Both sub-genres maintained the core mod values of sharp dressing and youthful rebellion while pushing the musical boundaries of the revival in different directions.
